Issue 10. Double figures! Extra numbers & South Kerry Close Up đď¸đď¸đď¸
Houses, Gigs, Flights, RAIN, Rugby & Wine.
Good Morning and Welcome,
To issue No. 10. Ten weeks! To those hardcore first 50 whoâve been here since the start, I salute you. To those whoâve just joined us, stick around youâre in great company. This week thereâs a drenching of praise for two of South Kerryâs finest, an unusual amount of numbers, gigs and events a plenty & France.
South Kerry by the numbers:
87: Houses bought within the V23 Eircode area in 2023.
5: Of these were first time buyers.
30: Of these were âhousehold buyer-non occupiersâ which has been impossible to find a solid definition of, but sounds pretty ominous. My guess is, holiday homers, vulture funds, and Satan himself.
1: In 10 within the Kenmare LEA are Ukranian as of June.
2: Fewer Ukranians in Kenmare LEA than reported in February.
Are you taking the horse to France?

Pau
If you are planning on it and it will fit on a plane then the job has just been made much easier. Chalair has announced weekly flights to Pau, Brest & Caen, flights all depart and arrive on Saturdays. Holiday!!

Fine young men from Valentia & Caherdaniel Take on Europe.

Smiles like that only come from hard work.
Meet Conall Cournane (L) Michael OâSullivan (R) two of the most talented and committed individuals you may ever meet. They have been selected for the Ireland U18 Rugby Sevens squad to compete in the European Sevens in Strasbourg, starting today.
As we arenât exactly a rugby heartland here in South Kerry, I thought Iâd try and illustrate this achievement in a GAA context. Imagine, if every 17/18 year old, not only in the country, but part of the diaspora, was competing to be on the Kerry U18 panel. Imagine then, that said panel was only made up of 12 players. Imagine then that many of the parents of these athletes were paying thousands a year to purpose built academies in the hope their child would make these squads. Imagine then, that you belong to the club furthest away from any provincial centre, with no senior team, without even a pitch to call their own.
Imagine thatâs what these lads have done, together, since U7âs. The event is being live streamed on the rugby Europe website with the first game at 1pm, be sure to tune in and cheer them on.
If you have an interest in the game and would like to help future Michaels & Conallâs on their journeys, then just drop Iveragh Eagles RFC a message. Quite simply, itâs the best rugby club in the world.
