Issue 102. Fine Soft Day, isn't it?

SCIENCE, MACRAME, CRIME

Good Afternoon and Welcome,

To issue No.102. Aren’t we having a glorious summer so far? Anyone got any diesel?

South Kerry by the numbers

  • 102: Crimes were recorded across South Kerry (Sneem & Cahersiveen Garda Stations) in 2025, down by 43 crimes in 2024. Did somebody move?

  • 61: % decrease in Dangerous/negligent acts year on year. I think somebody did move.

  • 73.5: % of these were made up of assaults/threats/harassment, road/traffic, dangerous/negligent acts & drug offences.

  • 0: Instances of kidnapping were recorded. Nor robbery, extortion or hijacking offences & the same goes for weapons/explosives offences. So that’s nice.

First, a word from this week’s sponsor

It’s The Signs of South Kerry 🎺🎺🎺

For the week that’s in it. Where’s this sign?

Congratulations to last week’s winners

  • Dave Shortall

Congratulations to veteran of the winners circle Dave, who correctly identified that it was, of course, the sign for the Ogham stone in Derrynane. To think that took three weeks to get… You should all say a penance really.

Auntie Agnes’ Angle

Agnes is not with us. Resurrection isn’t easy after all.

The Oracle Cartoon

This week, Tim presents an idea we can all get behind.

Thanks Tim.

Best Coffee in South Kerry

So, this had a much quieter week. The Watch House still going strong & we were very close to a new entrant in the top 10.

The competition is very much coming for Ahamore Tearooms in the race to be Chief Hot Chocolateier too.

As a point of note, I’d like to disclose that half of the mocha judging panel had one from The Lazy Cat Cafe this week; it was tasty, tasty, very very tasty. Was it the best in South Kerry though? I’m not sure, who gets your vote?

For reading.

Late this week, I blame the powercut. We’ve still got power but I’ve been busy empathising.

Thanks to Tim & herself for the sign

Good luck, be well.
