Issue 11. Lots Going On, Lots Going On, Lots Going On

Dancing, Romancing... South Kerry's giving it all this week 🎶 🎶

Good Morning and Welcome,

To issue No. 11 This week sees the start of summer as there are events and goings on everywhere. Also, Festival fever & a brand new food offering shrouded in mystery, fewer numbers, & the South Kerry Close Up. Did you win? Will you?

South Kerry by the numbers:

  • 480,700: Is Kerry in hectares.

  • 0: Properties to rent on daft.ie, for the 5th week running.

Lots going on

So let’s get straight to it, South Kerry’s so hot right now I’ve had to add categories…

Food

When I say brand new I mean opens TONIGHT 5pm, Fair Green, Cahersiveen, be there, be seen. I may have said shrouded in mystery, but rest assured there’s nothing fishy going on here, apart from the fish. The team has been working hard to perfect an ever changing array of seafood delights, this week will feature salt, pepper, squid, parsley & Mexico, not necessarily in that order. Mysterious.

  • Tapas & Wine Night at the Bridge Cafe & Bistro Sneem on July 17th from 5.30p.m to 8pm. Call (064) 6675858 to Book.

  • You can now enjoy the delights of An Bothán & Driftwood 7 Days a Week.

  • Pompeii Pizza are now fulfilling your crust based desires 7 days a week in Wavecrest.

  • Finally, I’d like to forcefully suggest you pay the marvellous Johanna & Eric @ The Beachcove, Waterville a visit, for the good of your tastebuds alone. 11 weeks I’ve been meaning to say that…

Outside/Good for You

  • Skellig Sheepdogs are running sheepdog demonstrations on Valentia, more here. Sold.

  • Castles, Monks, and MacCarthys; A historical walk around Ballinkelligs Castle & Abbey led by local historian Dr. Eoin O’Neill, tomorrow, 2pm WhatsApp 085 8782775

  • The ReWild has open level Vinyasa and Tantra Yoga Terms starting on the 16th of July in Cahersiveen, all info here

  • You can now get your Skellig Sauna fix Thursday-Sunday all here

  • The Ballinskelligs regatta starts at 10.30 on Sunday, with a raffle AND a shop on site.

  • Hardmen & Hardwomen will be taking to the sea/cycle/road in Waterville this weekend and I remain in awe of all those participating, so head down and cheer them on.

  • Next Sunday sees on of my personal favourites in the Iveragh Vintage Society’s Annual Field Day. Rakes of machines, vintage ones, its class. See below

Fine young men from Valentia & Caherdaniel Took on Europe & Took Third.

For those of you who missed last week meet Conall Cournane (L) Michael O’Sullivan (R) two local lads who competed for Ireland U18 Rugby Sevens squad in the European Sevens in Strasbourg last weekend and came home in third.

The lads were outstanding. Both playing pivotal roles, scoring tries for fun and pure miserly in defence. We, as a peninsula, can be very proud. #eaglesabu
