Issue 28. Guess who's back? Back again
Slogans, Stories, Oysters, Shadows
Good Morning and Welcome,
To issue No.28: This week, there are two secretive visitors in Ballinskelligs, a bit more politics and an opportunity for you all.
South Kerry by the numbers:
67: Properties for sale in South Kerry on daft.ie, ranging from €90,000 to €1,450,000
0: Properties available to rent
290,000: € was the average sale price of houses sold in South Kerry in August.
127,000: € would be the maximum a single person on the average salary in Kerry could borrow.
5: Properties less than 127,000 available in South Kerry, 0 of these would you describe as habitable.
First, a word from this week’s sponsor
A week off sponsors this week, consider it a break before the Christmas rush.
Hoggy’s back, with a friend

Ballinskelligs’ hedgehog population has at least doubled. Last week we met Hoggy, this week, here’s Bandit. Both are males & as you can see, hungry little fellas, the Oracles resident hedgehog expert tells us; Hogs would normally be hibernating by now but are taking advantage of the unusually high temperatures to put on a few more ounces to get to about a 1lb. If you are feeding them don’t feed dog food or milk as they are lactose intolerant but do put out a bowl of water. Their natural predators are badger 🦡 dogs 🐕 owls 🦉 and 🚗 the latter even more so at the moment because the hogs are out earlier because of the dark evenings and more cars out and about, so be extra vigilant on the roads at night.
It’s The Signs of South Kerry 🎺🎺🎺
Dead easy this week. I’m 100% certain you’ve all seen this one, I’m 90% sure you’ll all get this one.
Where’s this sign?

Congratulations to last week’s Winners 🍰🍰🍰
Last week, it was of course, O’Carroll’s Cove, obviously.
Dave Shortall
Martha Fitzgerald
South Kerry’s finest sign spotting sibling may have taken the lead here. Congratulations both.
Auntie Agnes Asks

She’ll be back next week.

Where has the best pint in South Kerry?
Today, I would like to announce my intention to close voting on the 29th of November. I like awarding things on a Friday & I look forward to putting the results to the people. There you go, clarity.
The election is upon us
So, who will we vote for? What follows is a list of the current confirmed candidates for Kerry (along with slogans if available):
Michael Cahill: Experience working for you
Norma Foley: Effective & committed representation
Linda Gordan Kelleher: ?
Pa Daly: ?
Stephanie O’Shea:?
Danny Healy-Rae: ?
Michael Healy-Rae: A vote for Michael Healy-Rae is a vote for hard work.
Michelle Keane: ?
Cleo Murphy: ?
Billy O’Shea: ?
Catherina O’Sullivan: ?
Thomas (Tom) McEllistrim: ?
Mary Fitzgibbon: ?
Mike Kennedy: Trust in me/Strong new voice
Brandon Begley: ?
Cian Prendiville: ?
Can you tell I expected more slogans? So there’s our sweet sixteen, the Oracle will remain fiercely independent but will be asking all of these what they intend to improve for the people of South Kerry. Plus points thus far go to Michael Healy-Rae for actually having a full sentence as a slogan & Stephanie O’Shea for being the only active Oracle subscriber on the list (I think). Minus points thus far go to Michael Healy-Rae for installing a lorry with his head on it in an area of outstanding natural beauty & Linda Gordon-Kelleher for being the first to pollute our stretch of the Ring Of Kerry with signs.
If you remember week 4, at the local election we had 374 signs decorating our roads heres hoping for a few less this time, they will be counted.
