Issue 32. Stone Cold Winners

Soccer, Vessels, Therapeutic crafting

Good Morning and Welcome,

To issue No.32 : This week, you get a chance to vote twice, a puppy (or two) that doesn’t have to be for life (but will be for Christmas), and Agnes returns with some advice.

South Kerry in two maps:

So, all politics is local. This is how we voted. The first map shows the largest party vote across the polling districts of South Kerry, with blue representing Fianna Fáil, orange the combined forces of Healy-Rae. The second shows the top individual vote, with orange representing Michael Healy-Rae, yellow(?) for Danny & turquoise representing Glenbeigh’s finest Michael Cahill. Congratulations to Michael Cahill on his inaugural election to the 34th Dáil & on proving we weren’t that predictable after all.

If you feel like geeking out on a bit more Kerry map based election data, what else would you be doing with your time? There’s a load more here.

First, a word from this week’s sponsor

The Annual Christmas in Cahersiveen Shopping Day takes place this Saturday, December 7th.
At Willie's we are offering 10% off all items for the whole day.
There will be an opportunity from 2pm-4pm to taste some of our premium wines that are exclusively available at Willies!
Get there before the wines run out... 😉

Mighty stuff Willie! Don’t forget, Willie’s are offering a 10% discount on December 7th, to claim, head to the counter and say: “We've wandered to Willie's Wild Atlantic Way Wines & Whiskey, we await Willie’s wonderful winter windfall!”. Easy.

Would you look at Fionnghuala go?

Isn’t she mighty? Well and truly one of our own, Fionnghuala was launched this week off Valentia having been built on Valentia by FM Marine Services. She’s the first Irish Naval Vessel to be built in Ireland since 1984, the first on Valentia potentially since Theobald Magee himself ruled the waves. Don’t be fooled by that beauty though, she’s gun mounts, two of them.

It’s The Signs of South Kerry 🎺🎺🎺

I’ve been meaning to do this one for ages. You’ve all seen it.

Where’s this sign?

Congratulations to last week’s Winner 🍰🍰🍰

Last week, it was of course, the bridge in Sneem.

Take a bow, Eileen! Take a bow!

Auntie Agnes Can’t Answer

You could have 99 problems but the lack of someone to listen to them ain’t one, just;

Where has the best pint in South Kerry, the results are in.

Congratulations to all. Aren’t we lucky to have such fine hostelries in our locality? There has been some talk of irregularities in the voting, as I’ve said before, all is fair in love and pints. That said, if one of the big 4 want to come in and run next year’s vote, they’d be more than welcome.

I should also point out that the pints above are not a true graphical representation of the pints you will receive at these establishments. As vote totals increased, I should have adapted accordingly… You’re only as good as your next game.

Thanks to all that took part, nearly 500 votes cast, more than all but two South Kerry polling stations in the election.

What will we vote for next? Beach? Coffee? Ice-cream? Soda Bread? Soda Bread might be a good one? Any ideas? Let me know here.
