Issue 54. Glorious out there, isn't it?

Reenroe, Greenway, Bats, Boot

Good Afternoon and Welcome,

To issue No.54. Firstly, apologies to some/all of you for last week, it seems some of you got a link to the bonus article and little else, some of you got no bonus article, the intracacies of what happened are, quite frankly, far too dull to deal with. So, for all of you, here’s a lengthy timeline detailing the progress/not of the South Kerry Greenway.

South Kerry by the numbers:

  • 168: Files have now been submitted to the councils planning portal in relation to the development of the old hotel on Reenroe

  • 350: Days since the planning application was first submitted.

  • 9: Different types of accomodation feature in the application, from Hobbit Huts to Holiday Homes.

First, a word from this week’s sponsor

Best Beach in South Kerry?

Kells makes it in to the top 5 at the expense of Waterville Golf Links, that’s not right is it? Glanleam is surely a nicer beach than White Strand? Isn’t it?

Any News On Reenroe?

Eager Oraclers that you are, you’ll remember that the planning application was granted an extension to provide further information. Even eagler Oraclers will remember that the extension was due to finish a fortnight ago. Well, let me be the first to tell you, that a decision, has been reached.

That decision? PUBLICATION REQUIRED

Essentially, given the rake of new information that’s been submitted the council have requested the applicants notify all of us (by way of a new sign and notice in an approved newspaper) that this new information is now available to make submissions upon. The new sign wasn’t up, as of 10 am this morning, I’ve seen no notice in a newspaper & The Oracle’s application to become an ‘approved’ newspaper is just the shell of an idea in my tiny mind. The deadline for these notices appears to be, today.

An actual decision is now due on 19/06/25.

It’s The Signs of South Kerry 🎺🎺🎺

You all know where this is don’t you?

Congratulations to last week’s winner

  • David Fitz

Who else? Does this secure David’s spot as the finest sign spotter in South Kerry? It was of course, Quinlans Fish Shop sign in the car park, Cahersiveen.
