Issue 59. Insert Humerous Title

Cookbook, Cave, Chef Wanted

Good Afternoon and Welcome,

To issue No.59. Apologies to any of you who turned up to SuperValu last week expecting supercars, you can have a look at them tomorrow. Thanks to the dozen or so who pointed it out, who knew the appetite for supercars was so great? Late again, let’s get to it

South Kerry by the numbers:

Best Beach in South Kerry

So, it’s official, the Best Beach in South Kerry is Derrynane. Was it really ever in doubt? I’m totally open to suggestions on how the title should be awarded. Also can anyone guess what the top activity was? Thanks for voting.

Best Broadband in South Kerry?

Well, this has been interesting. Firstly, another apology, to the 30 or so of you, who, devoted community contributors that you are, went immediately from the newsletter to fill out the form, to find no form was there. Rest assured, the form is now ready and waiting for you.

Our highest so far is a quite honestly unbelievable 289.34 Mbps, the lowest 21.53Mbps, with these two being not even 2km apart. See, told you it was interesting.

On an even more interesting note, the actual lowest recorded was my own, at 15ishMbps. Following a lengthy chat with my provider, I now sit, smugly, with 166Mbps. For any of you in the Waterville area on the 3 network with rubbish internet, point your router towards the Garda Station. For even more interesting results, move it upstairs, you can thank me later.

Interesting, isn’t it?

It’s The Signs of South Kerry 🎺🎺🎺

So, this might be my favourite so far. You’ve all passed it. Where is it & What’s it for?

Congratulations to last week’s winners

  • cheaters!

So whilst I appreciate the honesty, I’m struggling to know how you would cheat at this game? Even if the sign belongs to you, it’s still an achievement, as many of those reading who couldn’t spot their own sign will tell you. So well done! Last week, it was, of course, the sign for An Bothan, St. Finian’s Bay.

We will start a directory

Still this. It’s my excuse, and I’m sticking to it. The problem with having ideas all the time is that execution suffers... It’s looking good, just a bit empty. If you want your business to be top of the list, click that button below

This week, a reader dares to suggest there might be somewhere else in the world better than South Kerry at something…

Dearest Agnes

I was I the Cotswolds recently and they are so so dog frienldly. Even shops have free treat jars as you walk in the door. My question is, How dog Friendly is South West Kerry? Where are the best places to go? May be an idea for a poll?? and what can be done to improve SW Kerry as a dog friendly destination?

Thank you Agnes.

Agnes Answers

Dearest Reader,

Thank you for your query. It is good to hear of your dog friendly experience in the Cotswolds.

In my experience, we are living in a dog friendly environment. I base this on the many dogs I meet on a daily basis. Many of whom I meet on our local beaches. In Ballinskelligs, I’ve seen our canine friends being treated to shaded spots in Cois trà. Others enjoy drinks and snacks at the Fox in the Box spots in Cahersiveen and Waterville. I’ve also seen a dog friendly space at the Beach Cove in Waterville.

I agree maybe more could be available. This sounds like a nice project for someone in the community to take on. Any takers?

I also wonder how this is for folk who are afraid of dogs.

Stay safe out there

Are you afraid of dogs? You know who can help don’t you? Just
