Good Afternoon and Welcome,

To issue No.66. I wouldn’t want to be taking up too much of your long weekend, so we’ll get to it…

Well, Iron-Man Mike Murphy, Here Is Your Monument, We’ll Build it So High, The World Can See.

Well, as high as Leader funding allows.

Oracle obsessives will of course, remember the cyclist/runner/drinker of cows’ blood/strongman/circus performer/farmer that was Mike ‘Iron Man, Mile-a-Minute’ Murphy (if not, here’s that wikipedia page again for a refresher).

You’ll also remember the outstanding efforts of the Mike Murphy Memorial Cycle Club for not only the years of fundraising and organising through the Mike Murphy Memorial Cycle. Those fine individuals are now delighted to announce the successful outcome of their Leader grant application and that the memorial to local cycling hero Mike Iron-Man Murphy will be standing proud in the town park early next year.

Club Secretary Mike Greaney advised the Oracle that “After months of work by this committee and other volunteers, our grant application was approved.” He’d also like to express the committee’s sincere thanks to all involved in this project. From our own team, the South Kerry Development Partnership, Kerry County Council and local Councillor Norma Moriarty, who all played a part in moving us on to the final phase of the mission.

Best Broadband in South Kerry?

This week, this thing officially helped someone increase their internet speeds. I plan to expand this map to show masts, as it’s incredible how different just pointing your internet box in the right direction can be. The reader in question went from less than 10Mbps to over 70Mbps by just moving the box.

Here’s an interactive version of the broadband map so far. The more we have, the better it will be. Go here, click go, record the number below

It’s The Signs of South Kerry 🎺🎺🎺

As last week proved difficult again, here’s a really, really, really easy one. Where is it?

No winners last week, it was of course, the world famous Riordans shop.
