A couple of points to note:

  1. 25 years. Literally keeping the history of the village alive. Incredible work that we should all be thankful for, so on behalf of us all, thanks very much!

  2. Just one of the reasons this might not be a morning newsletter is that I’ve just gone down a John W. Mackay shaped rabbithole. A fascinating story, why the ‘Bonanza Kings’ has not been used as a band name I don’t know. Don’t miss it.

Have you seen this Hornet?

This menacing looking individual is an Asian Hornet recently spotted in Cork. If you spot one try and stop yourself running away long enough to grab a picture. Take that picture and upload here. You might want to give them a call too, as this individual is a real biohazard. A voracious predator of insects, particularly our native bees, the Asian Hornet was mistakenly introduced to France in 2004, but was first spotted in Ireland in 2021. Exactly the kind of immigration we don’t want.

Best Broadband in South Kerry?

Here’s an interactive version of the broadband map so far. That map needs updating. We now have 70 odd responses. Given the broadband rollout is actually available to many of us, we have a new question, so go and fill it out again if you have already. If you haven’t, what have you been doing with your time? Some highlights so far:

  • Starlink is the provider offering the best speeds on average.

  • Ivertec is the most popular provider, but its average speed currently sits outside the top 3

  • Eir has the fastest recorded speed at 423Mbps.

The more we have, the better it will be. Go here, click go, record the number below

Well done all, how will you get on this week? For any of you who didn’t know it was of course, the notice board on Reenroe. You know, the same one that had been used to illustrate Reenroe in the very same newsletter, that one.

We will start a directory

Honestly, I thought August would be quiet. We will, we will, we will. Just not this week. If you want your business to be top of the list, click that button below

Auntie Agnes Answers

Well, she would normally, but she’s been whisked away. Will she be back next week? Is she somehow healing us all in her absence? Probably. In the meantime, give her a problem, she’s mustard at them. Just
