Issue 77. Who will be a President for all People?

Whiskey, Badminton, Dunes, Bench

Good Morning and Welcome,

To issue No.77. Quick one this week, plane to catch

South Kerry by the numbers

  • 29: According to an letter in the Irish Times from 1975, in 1818, this was the population of Cahersiveen. Spread across just 4 houses.

  • 2,080: Was the population in 1851, according to the same letter.

  • 1,297: Was the population according to the 2022 census. The town that O’Connell built has been well ravaged since.

First, a word from this week’s sponsor

Those nice woolly types at the Festival of Botanical Colours wanted me to let you know that they will be making ink from oak galls gathered locally, you will also be able to have a go at some rudimentary weaving,  Paddy Bushe will be reading some nature poems and poems about colours and tapestries in Irish and English. And there is going to be a Wool & Vintage Haberdashery swap table on Sunday 26th.   See poster for details.  Tickets here

Who will you vote for?

For me, this election is very much suffering from a lack of candidates. I would have said that prior to Big Jim proving Fianna Fail’s uncanny ability to be terrible at a game they almost always win. Given this is expected to be an awful turnout, I wondered how many of South Kerry’s finest are interested enough, to click the button below? Would be ‘fun’ to have a local comparison, wouldn’t it?

It’s The Signs of South Kerry 🎺🎺🎺

Different one this week. You can see what the sign is, but where is it?

Congratulations to last week’s winners

  • Michelle

Well she didn’t win the sign game but she did guess the lyric, good woman.

Auntie Agnes’ Angle

She’s some woman for a holiday is our Agnes. Will she ever return? Hopefully.
