Issue 88. Happy New Year!
BEST PINTS, NEW PINTS, REENROE
Good Afternoon and Welcome,
To issue No.88. Also, to 2026. May it be a fantastic year for all concerned.
South Kerry by the numbers
17: New safety camera zones for Kerry as of yesterday
4: Of these are in South Kerry
3: Of these are on the N70, Ring of Kerry road, in between Waterville & Caherdaniel, just before the Blackwater Bridge & on the way into Kenmare.
First, a word from this week’s sponsor

Best Pint in South Kerry 2025
This week, the battle for top spot continues with The Waterville Inn just keeping a nose in front of 2024 champions The Lobster. On the other side of the top 5, The Blind Piper retains its fifth position at the expense of The Royal Hotel Valentia.
For the concerned voter who got in touch to bemoan the absence of Craineens from the list. Firstly, they are very much on the list, just not in the top 5. Secondly, this is a public vote, democracy manifest, you might say. I’d agree, though, it’s an excellent spot for a pint.

Whatever happened, to the application at Reenroe?

As you can see in the above letter dated the first of December 2025 & uploaded to the planning portal at some juncture between then and now, a decision date for the appeal has been set for the 10/2/2026 (I presume they meant 2026).
Boston’s Bar Reborn

Boston’s Bar on Valentia has reopened, with 23 year old Valentia local Shauna O’Leary at the helm. Fabulous to see someone changing the narrative in South Kerry and having the gumption and bravery to take this bold move.
Be sure to call in and support the new venture.
