Issue 9. You so fine, You so fine you blow my mind Hey Buddy

Congratulations and Crime and Dog Dating

Good Morning and Welcome,

To issue No. 9. This week there’s no attempt at a witty intro as I’m 20 minutes late publishing.

South Kerry by the numbers:

  • 76: Incidents of crime recorded in 2023 across both Sneem & Cahersiveen Garda Stations. 0.2 crimes per day. Safe.

  • 1: In 10 of us are apparently Ukrainian. I’ve seen this stat applied to the Iveragh Peninsula, South Kerry & the Kenmare LEA this week. More on this next week.

  • 800,000: € Will get you your very own slice of Blackrock outside Sneem.

Plenty to say on the Hotel Cali-Reenroe

You’ll remember, of course, a few weeks ago I took a look at the proposed developments at Reenroe and the general consensus around the plans. You’ll also be aware that a few high profile figures came out strongly backing the development. Councillor Johnny Healy-Rae advised those not from the area to “mind their own business”. Councillor Norma Moriarty advised that the majority of feedback she’d received had been “very, very positive”.

Well, based on the sheer amount of planning objections, people have made it their business to be not very positive. As it stands, with three weeks to go in the planning process, there are 37 objections submitted. Many of these run to pages in length and have been submitted by locals, environmental activists, blow-ins & Irish Water to name but a few.

Whether the planners take any of these as grounds to refuse planning remains to be seen, but by the looks of things, there is no smooth sailing ahead.

You can be mine, and I can be your Buddy

I see you, checking me out, you're thinking, I’m one of those guys. Those non-stop, ferociously active, athletes… Well, that’s just not me. I’m not like all those other guys, I’m a young dog that’s seen the hard road, now, I’m ready for love.

My back legs might not be great but my heart is strong. I’ll stand by you, walk beside you, (I’m not too sure about those shady guys following us on sunny days, but we can get through that together) lean into you, follow you, collapse in front of you expecting a belly rub, I’ll be your dawg.

I like other dawgs too, but this dawg don’t do no cats.

If you think you can handle all the love that Buddy’s got to give, get in touch with the wonderful souls at KLAWS.

🎶 If you take time to show me, you really care, then we’ll share tomorrow togetheeeeer, always and forever with you 🎶
