Welcome To Puffino Toys
Whilst constantly being told of the depopulation issues in South Kerry, isn’t it magical to see a new family business take flight in these parts?
Puffino Toys, is based in Canburrin, Cahersiveen & is the brainchild of Marcel Beck, who moved to the area with his family in 2022. In his own words:
I spent a long time thinking about what would genuinely benefit the area and reflect the values of our beautiful region. That’s what led me to wooden toys — high‑quality, durable, screen‑free play that encourages learning, imagination and fun. Wooden toys are timeless, and because of their quality and craftsmanship, they can be passed from generation to generation, becoming part of a family’s story rather than something that’s quickly thrown away.
Most of our products come from trusted German and Polish companies. I’m German, my wife is Polish, and our three children were born here in Ireland — so we have strong connections to all three places. Many of the brands we stock are ones I grew up with myself. I’m proud to make that kind of screen‑free childhood experience available to Irish families.
We ship throughout the Republic of Ireland, and I’m especially happy to offer a convenient local option for the community here. We also offer digital gift cards that can be emailed directly to the birthday child, even scheduled in advance so no one forgets a special day.
The name Puffino Toys is inspired by the puffins of the Skelligs — a small nod to the wildlife and character of our local area, which we’re proud to represent.
All the best to Marcel & family in the new venture, be sure to check it out.
It’s The Signs of South Kerry 🎺🎺🎺

Auntie Agnes’ Angle

Dear Reader,
I hope you are all stirring and stretching out a bit more in your bodies and lives. Despite it being bitterly cold this week, there has been splatterings of brightness & sunshine. This invites us to peek out and connect a bit more with the outside world. Slowly and safely.
There are so many possibilities to connect out in our communities. So many chances to connect with ourselves & others, with nature, with books, with music. Connecting with something that lifts our souls making us feel happy and love. Feeling happiness and love are vital to our wellbeing. They generate positive chemistry in our body.
So, what makes you smile on the inside !? Found something? Now go do it!
Happy Friday Readers
Isn’t it great having Agnes every week? Isn’t it?
The Oracle Cartoon
This week, Tim courts controversy once more…

Thanks, Tim.
Coming Soon to Cahersiveen, Brad Pitt & a Medical Centre

Not Brad Pitt
Above are the proposed elevations for the new medical centre which was granted (for the third time) last week. Looks massive doesn’t it? Won’t it be wonderful to have such a thing on our doorstop.

Not really Brad Pitt either
Yes, that’s right, Brad Pitt is coming to town. In fairness, he might even be here now. He’s filming a production titled either One for All or The Riders. Either way it’s based on Tim Winton’s Booker nominated novel The Riders & before any of you start wondering just how bad his accent is going to be. Firstly, he’s not Tom Cruise. Secondly, the book is about an Australian couple who buy a farmhouse in Ireland on a whim.
Everyone can do an Australian accent, can’t they?
Keep a look out and if you see him, tell him I was asking after him would you?

Latest one yet? Maybe, I had to clear the use of Brad’s image with his people. That’s my excuse.
Thanks again to Tim & Agnes.
Insert standard magnet apology here. Actually, two went out last week, so there is some progress.
Good luck, be well.
Dave
