Ladies & gentlemen, this is Issue Number 5 đŸŽș đŸŽș đŸŽș

A little bit of Derrynane in my life, a yoga and a sauna & more signs...

Good Morning and Welcome,

... The Iveragh Eagles on RTE, Iveragh United win all the trophies đŸŽș đŸŽș đŸŽș

Sorry about that, I assure you I’ll run out of musical pun based intros soon.

This week there’s a look at the upcoming ‘Discover Derrynane’ programme. A moment to Celebrate sporting success and a chance to see our stars of the future. A new music venue & the reopening of an old favourite. Not forgetting all the best of what’s going on and what will be going on around the place. A bit on the impact of last week’s vehement election sign facebooking too.

South Kerry by the numbers:

  • 421: Election posters decorating the Ring of Kerry road between Loher Church and Deelis Bridge.

  • 13: Percent increase on last week’s election poster count.

  • 118,500: € Will get you the least expensive house in the area for sale. Three bedrooms, one bathroom “In need of some T.L.C.”

You’ll remember last week when we covered concerned citizen Ruth Brophy’s plea to have a little less election dressing around the place, well, what was the impact of that coverage?

74 more posters! An extra 3 per/km!. Though it’s not all disappointing news, on the same 24km stretch of the Ring of Kerry road, from Loher Church to Deelis Bridge, there is just one election lorry and a single trailer. So whilst the totals may have increased the associated infrastructure has all but vanished. Vanished is probably too strong a word as where trailers have been moved, huddles of posters remain, keeping each other company.

I’ll reach out again to the candidates next week for any final words to sway us before the polling booth.

Iveragh United won all the trophies

In a week that will long be remembered in the club’s history, Iveragh United FC secured three titles in just five days. Huge credit to the players, management and all the volunteers involved.

Iveragh Eagles U11’s take the field at Thomond Park

Look at this brave band of mighty warriors who head to Thomond Park on Saturday to show off their skills in front of a packed stadium at half time during the Munster V Ulster game. They’ve been training hard over the past few weeks so be sure to look out for them and make sure Donncha O'Callaghan gives us a mention on commentary.

Best of the rest;

  • Congratulations to Kells Bay Gardens for winning gold at Bloom.
